Chelation Therapy

Removal of heavy metals from the body to improve circulation and relieve chronic pain.

Chelation Therapy

is a medical approach that involves the administration of chelating agents to remove certain metals from the body.

Mechanism of Action:

Chelation is based on the property of certain substances, such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and dimercaprol, to bind to specific heavy metals and form stable chemical compounds. These compounds are water-soluble and can therefore be excreted from the body through urine. The chelation process is used to trap and eliminate toxic metals, such as lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium, which can accumulate in the body due to environmental or occupational exposure. When chelation therapy is performed, blood flow gradually restores to the tissues, providing oxygen and nutrients to the cells, leading patients to report relief from their chronic pain.

Useful steps to initiate the process:

• Leg ulcers that do not heal due to lack of oxygen
• Diabetic neuropathy
• Poor circulation to the heart (angina)
• Kidney failure
• Arthritis
• Neuritis (nerve inflammation)
• Arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)
• High blood pressure
• Diabetes, gangrene
• Arterial embolism
• Varicose veins ulcers
• Decrease in sexual appetite
• Pain, coldness, weakness, and numbness in the limbs
• Depression and sleep disturbances
• Memory loss, among others

1. Side effects: They may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hypotension, skin rashes, and other symptoms.

2. Risks: Unsupervised or incorrect use of chelation therapy can be dangerous and cause electrolyte imbalances and kidney damage.
